End I.C.E. Detention in Sherburne County
The Sherburne County ICE Detention Facility is run by the Sherburne County sheriff by virtue of a contract with ICE last renewed in 2018. The contract, which guaranteed Sherburne County $110 per detainee per day, is up for renewal in May, 2023. Because of DHS policy changes, fewer and fewer immigrants have been detained there since the beginning of 2021. And because of COVID, the contract is no longer guaranteed, so Sherburne County only receives payment for actual detainees. In addition, the site does not meet DHS requirements which include having access to outdoor recreation.
Help us to end this contract by contacting Sheriff Joel Brott at

As long as ICE detainees are held in Sherburne, our partners at Sanctuary and Resistance to Injustice (SARI) hold weekly demonstrations in front of the facility (13880 Business Center Dr. NW, Elk River) every Wednesday afternoon, weather permitting.
